Photo essays are supposed to tell some kind of story. This is less a story than a meditation.

I love photographing sand. It is my favorite thing to do in Namibia. I love the texture and the colors and the light. I love the way the same patch of ground changes constantly. I love the work of shadows and wind.

Here are a few photos to meditate on, from our Christmas trip. These were taken early in January – a great way to start the new year.
